Burney Falls in Northern California – A Must See in Our Perfect Days in Perfect Places Series–Traveling in the North State, one of the places you will want to plan to see is Burney Falls. Located just about an hour away (65 miles) from Redding just off Highway 299 on Highway 89 is McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. High on the eastern boundary of the Cascade Range, the Park sits on the western Modoc pleateau halfway between Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak. The falls’ two main flows of plunging white water originate from Burney Creek, a tributary of the Pit River. Theodore Roosevelt pronounced them one of the wonders of the world. The elevation is 3100′.

Beauty Abounds in Shasta County, California

Anderson, California. I love the community of Anderson. You can see lots of sky and all the mountain ranges. I call it “Big Sky”. It rises slightly to a higher elevation in the valley and offers you incredible vistas/views. Surrounded with views of the Western Mountain Ranges, Mount Shasta and the Lassen Mountain Range the panoramic qualities make for spectacular country. It’s cattle and horse country where rodeos, bull riding and bull buying are big events. Big ranches and smaller ranches offer that country lifestyle.

The town of Anderson is small and quaint. You feel a bit like you are stepping back in time.
