I am always in great anticipation about the Redding Farmer’s Market opening up in April. Located in the area West of the Redding City Hall, it is my every Saturday must do activity. This year may be a little slow in getting started with the offerings of fruit and veggies due to a prolonged and wet Winter season.

Local farmers have not really been able to produce during this unseasonable weather. Crafts and food vendors will be the main attraction with some Farmers coming up from the South.

Here are a few photos from last year’s Farms Market just to keep us going with the thought of the the months to come and good local produce.

Early Saturday mornings are very busy at the Farmer’s Market. With good breakfast treats and the local artisans, it is a must do activity in Redding and Shasta County, CA.

 Fresh product is beautiful and it is such a please to speak with the Growers and Farmers. Fresh shallots from the garden is a treat on any day.

The feeling of abundance for the coming weeks meals is a feeling like no other. My favorite treat is to shop the Farmer’s Market and plan our meals for the week.

Gorgeous fresh fruit and flowers are delightful and taste so good. The raspberries where the main ingredient for a weeks worth of fun recipes. A healthy cuisine based on local produce is the menu for successful restaurants and for fine dining at home.

I always enjoy chatting with the Farmers and growers about our weather and the art of producing fine fruits and vegetables. We grow our own herbs at home but I am fascinated with the knowledge.

Fresh breads, jams and local honey are just a few of the offerings at the Farmer’s Market. You will also find Arts and Crafts by local artisans that come to share with the local people their products and services.

Of course, breakfast at the Farmer’s Market is a must do and have. A sticky bun is like no other and coffee, tea and juice drinks make for a morning of delightful treats.

We are ending up the day with our hand woven grocery bags filled to the brim and with our tummies full of fine breakfast treats and good coffee. It has been a great fun time at the Redding Farmer’s Market. We are set for the week with good and fresh fruit and veggies for healthy eating and enjoyable meals and we bought flowers for the house and a new vase for the flowers. We have local grown and cared for plants that we must plant in our garden and all in all, it was all so wonderful. See you next week at the Redding Farmer’s Market.

We live and work in a beautiful area. We love Shasta County, California and the Redding area. We took a weekend trip to Eureka and the Coast of Northern California back in October. We had a wonderful time and here are some photos that I took of Trinidad Beach in the small coastal town of Trinidad. I like to call it Trinidad by the Sea because it reminds me of Carmel by the Sea in Monterey County.

I have presented these photo before but in that I am working on technique, these are the latest versions. There is a couple of new ones. I could live in Trinidad or nearby. I miss the Coast and plan to visit at least once if not twice a year.

Redding Real Estate – Short Sale Information – Avoiding Foreclosure – Latest Breaking Foreclosure News–we have heard recently about the Justice Department Settlement with the Banks. Here are the details and the resources where you can find out more. It is hopeful that this effort will help distressed home owners stay in their homes. Here are the details of the Mortgage Services Settlement:

Mortgage Services Settlement–the United States Department of Justice announced a recent settlement with five major banks accused of robo-signing and other fraudulent foreclosure practices.

The $25 billion dollar settlement (with $4 billion pending other smaller banks (9) involved Bank of America, Ally, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo.

Where the Money will go:

$5 billion consisting of $2000 payments to borrowers who were foreclosed on between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011 and who were subjected to the fraudulent practices.

$20 billion will be used towards foreclosure alternatives:

• $10 billion will go to the borrowers who are delinquent on their mortgages.
• $7 billion towards assisting homeowners through short sales, forebearance relocation assistance or other alternatives.
• $3 billion will be spent helping borrowers who own more than the value of their home to refinance.

The time frames/deadlines from March 2012:

• The Banks have 30-60 for the Banks to select an administrator to handle logistics of the settlement and to monitor compliance.
• The next 6 to 9 months the settlement administrator and the Attorney General will identify homeowners eligible for immediate cash payments and notify them by mail.
• It anticipated that the settlement will be completed within 3 years.

Clarification is made on the following:

• Robo-signing practices are forbidden.
• Dual-track Foreclosures (working with the homeowner on modification of the loan while simultaneously pursuing foreclosure) is forbidden.
• Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac insured loans are not impacted by this settlement.
• Special recourse is in place for Servicemembers who were charged over 6% interest rates after a valid request to lower their rates under the Servicemembers Civil Relieft Act (SRCA) or who were wrongly foreclosed on.
• Money will be distributed differently fro different states.
• California will receive the most of any state $12 billion
• Oklahoma was not a party to this settlement creating their own agreement worth $18.6 billion

The Pool of Realtors is Getting Smaller – Can You Survive – The Wheel of Many Spokes--We recently had an opportunity to become aware of the number of Realtors here in our local area that made their annual dues and are still actively doing real estate. The number has gone from somewhere around 1500 Realtors down to around 475. That is a reduction of 69% of the Realtor base. Given, some have come and gone and we do have new agents but the numbers are sobering for sure.

If we examined how these 31% that have survived, we don’t find anything that surprises. In my local area, it would not be Social Media that is the success factor. I do see other Realtors on Facebook and Twitter. I do see Realtors with good websites that get good SEO and compete with me for the online market.

You do have to have an online presence to pay in this market. This is a given. As I go down the list of those Realtors that remain and who the Top Producers are, they are the Realtors with relationships built over years and the Realtors who practice the basic skills required in real estate. Picking up the phone and contacting your past clients and your sphere of influence is what still makes the phone ring. It is not floor calls, or web leads. You can bring in new business by working the “expireds”. In the end, however it is your referral base that keeps that activity coming and that brings you business. It is your past service and your present level of service.

If you see your business as if it were a bicycle wheel with many spokes that provide you the opportunity of offering many value added services for your clients and you see the hub of this bicycle wheel as your past clients and current clients, you have a visual model for how your business is structured. The Wheel of Many Spokes represents the continued constant effort and guidance on the current trending market conditions and that caring element of “staying in touch”. The thoughtful act of communication sustains your business. It is the combined value we provide through an online presence and the face to face interaction that keep it real. Just by picking up the phone and staying in touch we provide an organic contribution to our Community. Hopefully, we are one of many with like-minded goals of offering service and value.

We love to take day trips and visit all the beautiful areas around Redding and Shasta County CA. We were in Eureka in October, 2011 and enjoyed a couple of days visiting and getting to know the area. I have always been a visual person. I love certain colors that draw me and entertain me. I love beauty and the visual aesthetic quality of presenting things well. There is a flow to the art of presentation that will keep the eye moving and finds the heart and mind feeling satiated. When things are not so placed there is a war going on within the mind to analyze and find the flaw. When we have achieved that beautiful balance of placement, color, texture and flow, the mind joins with the heart to enjoy and experience that “aha moment”.

Photography is of great value in real estate. It provides the opportunity to help our Reader learn more about our local community. I have been taking photos for Localism for several years now and have a vast inventory of photos for my work. This was taken on a rare day when Shasta Lake was full. I don’t take many photos of the Lake because most of the time it is not pretty. The water levels have gone down at times to 200 feet leaving a sad sight. This was a beautiful clear day when you could see Mount Shasta. It is a favorite photo of mine and I brand with it.

I love this photo. This was a Tuscan Villa that David and I truly enjoyed doing the marketing for. I love the richness and warmth of the room. She had created the perfect subject to photograph. We had fun showcasing this beautiful estate.

This photo is of Clear Creek, a local area where we have Salmon spawning. It is nearby and we can visit often. I love sharing the beauty of our area. It brings me business for those interested in relocating to the North State.

Visiting the Coast we enjoyed the beach and captured this shot. The art of sharing is an art form when practiced often. Wherever we go, we always take our camera and we are always prepared to get a shot that will be worthy of sharing with our Readers. It is the sweet part of our work and it is very effective.

This is another photo on our trip to Eureka. On Samoa Island we found a world long forgotten. I love to do a series of shots that tell the story of the land and the place.
